“I begin with an idea, then it becomes something else”
Pablo Picasso
An art doll can take many forms – human or otherwise. I especially enjoy creating Halloween-themed figures and am inspired by the mystical, the whimsical, and of course, all the things “witchy”. A small Styrofoam ball or even a compacted ball of foil serves as the head of the figure and is covered with air-dry clay. Through manipulation of the form, sculpting facial features, and creative costuming, the figure’s individual story emerges. My pieces embody inspiration, enchantment, whimsy, and beauty of the human condition. I believe that I have been successful if the piece continues to speak to me long after the creative process is complete.
